The main focus of our attention for the next three years is to support those individuals and organisations around the child or young person with High Learning Potential or Dual and Multiple Exceptionalities. This could include professionals in different disciplines around the child or young person, parents/carers and other individuals who work with and support those with HLP or DME, whether they know it or not.
Our experience has shown that many of those professionals in the UK have a low knowledge base of High Learning Potential, Dual and Multiple Exceptionality and how to recognise, identify and support these.
This lack of knowledge and understanding can cause frustration and distress amongst parents and carers of these children and young people, as well as the young people themselves. If we fill that gap in a low or no cost way, this will help to increase the knowledge, skills and appetite for supporting these children in future. We will do this by:
Our model has four stages:
Online webinars with key speakers about the topic
Six month intensive group coaching/training for up to 8 people on the topic, ideally culminating in a qualification
An annual conference for all those Lifelong Questors who have participated in the programme
An ongoing network and support for Lifelong Questors
