ANIMATION PROJECT – a work in progress

Deborah Davidson, Northwest Programme Director of the Ideas Foundation, contacted Katherine Rushton, Creative Media Tutor at The Manchester College where she teaches animation and digital design, who proposed that 2nd year Level 3 Digital Media Animation and Motion Graphics students should make animations to promote the needs of HLP children and young people, the primary audience being teachers and other educators.

A timeline was agreed for project delivery of September to December 2020.  A prize will be given for the winning animation (or possibly two prizes if there are two entries neck and neck for being the best), and the Trust proposed that each student making a good quality animation should receive a diploma that they can use as part of their CVs when applying for jobs.

Several discussions have already taken place.  The Potential Trust and Potential Plus UK, as clients for this project, made presentations to the students about the needs of HLP children and the work of respective organisations.  Both organisations have agreed to the College’s proposal for another similar presentation to the 1st year students who won’t have the same level of skills and maturity, but there is nothing to lose and might be something to gain.  Despite the difficulties being caused by Covid restrictions the College is pleased with the progress of this project.
