The Potential Trust was set up set up to provide, promote, and encourage whatever makes education more interesting and exciting for children and young people who have High Learning Potential or Dual and Multiple Exceptionality.
We have several strands to our work which will take Questors on a pathway from pre-school to adulthood
Any young person who feels that they meet the criteria can join us as a Young Questor from four to twenty five years old.
Members have the opportunity to tell us what they are passionate about and what they are seeking to learn.
Supporting children and young people aged four and upwards, from low-income and disadvantaged backgrounds, who have considerably more than the average share of curiosity, creativity, perception, and persistence.
A programme of conferences, training and coaching, and partnerships, aims to debate cutting edge issues relating to and impacting upon children and young people with HLP and DME in order to change the way they are seen and supported in school and beyond.
At The Potential Trust, we are passionate about maximising the potential of children and young people, particularly where barriers are preventing the spark of learning to be ignited. We work with families and organisations to provide Questor Bursaries that help children from low income and disadvantaged backgrounds find their own passion. Our work with other organisations encourages them to find new and cutting edge ways to support these children and young people. We are passionate about changing the world for these children and young people so they are recognised and valued for who they are.
We believe that all children, including those with DME and HLP, have the right to learning which maximises their potential.
Effective approaches to teaching children with HLP and DME are beneficial for all children.
Approaches to learning should begin by recognising and building on individual strengths and then supporting any areas of learning need rather than the reverse.
All those working directly with children with HLP and DME – parents, carers, professionals and others – should be supported positively to be the best they can be.
Partnerships with other individuals and organisations can help to change the world for these children and should be encouraged wherever possible.
Our values are important to us and these run through all aspects of our work. These include developing strengths- based solutions to enable every child and young person (including those who are HLPand DME) to be the best they can be.
To do this, we actively seek partners to work with us both on our Young Questors Programme and in our conference, training and coaching programmes.
